Final hike: The Cory Pass / Mt Edith Circuit in the dramatic Sawback range just northwest of Banff township. The peak you can mostly see is Mt Edith. Mt Cory is to its left, its peak obscured by clouds. Cory is about 9200 feet, Edith 8300, though, as usual for the Canadian Rockies, they seem much higher. Cory Pass is a 7700 foot defile between the two that you can just make out if you follow the left edge of Edith from the clouds to the point where the angle of the slope decreases slightly. The trail up to the pass is the steepest hike in Banff National Park -- 3000 feet of elevation gain in under 3 miles, roughly a 20% average grade, and that's with a flat kilometer in the middle. The All Souls' ascent was overall a bit steeper, but much shorter -- only about half a kilometer.
